Stillness of SilenceBy Ateya Rana
Daily Diary , Posted on 3/29/2009 6:43:51 AMSometimes we desire for silent moments and at times it is the most poisonous feeling. Our perception depends a lot on the baggage we carry to enter it with. But in the end, the result is always the same. It helps us know ourselves. Something deeper in each person yearns to reveal itself; and it is in these moments of silence when we hear the inner voice and know who we really are. When the frantic schedule of the whole day subsides and our brain finally succeeds in putting the chaos to rest, it?s the stillness that takes over. All the worries burry themselves in an unknown territory and our wishful thinking takes us to a fantasy land where everything happens in accordance with our wish. Sometimes I feel life is like a dream. When we are in the moment, no matter how happy or painful it is, it all is so real. But let time settle. Let the fog of present turn into the dust of past. It all becomes hazy and our memories pick and choose the favorite parts and forget the rest, like a gardener picks the flowers carefully leaving the thorns behind, and makes an exquisite bouquet out of it. Such is life. And in those silent moments, when we have more control over our thoughts than ever before, we make the most beautiful bouquet of our past.
I believe we all grow and find ourselves throughout our lives. We face our challenges each day. Some days we are more certain of ourselves, than the others. But in the end, it?s always the best that comes out for the rescue. At times we might not see the world agreeing with us, but with each failure and subsequent success, we keep growing into a stronger, much tougher person. It is a journey of a lifetime- with all its good and bad. But it?s in these silent moments, that we reveal ourselves the best. It?s the friend in us awaiting to be discovered and appreciated.
